Saturday 5th November - OFFICIAL departing Humpty's HQ

Hello ladies!

With just three weeks to go I hope you’re looking forward to Humpty’s Hike as much as myself and the Trekbeyond team are.

This week’s Training Program (as per email) includes a stair training session, a rest day on Tuesday for Melbourne Cup celebrations, and the group training session on Saturday 5 November.  I hope you’ve been able to include the longer walks in your training so that your feet are conditioned for our 20km Hike.

For the group training walk on Saturday we’re starting from Humpty’s offices (tennis centre at Talus Street St Leonards) at 6.30am sharp and will return around 10.30am.  I’ll give a briefing on the Hike and gear for those who weren’t able to join us for the earlier group training session, and I’m very happy to answer any questions.

Please let me know if you have any problems (eg feet, blisters, knees, shoes etc) or queries about your gear. Also, could you please return your paperwork if you haven’t already done so.

I hope you can make it to the walk on Saturday.

Best wishes

Michele Rosengren

3 weeks till Humpty's Hike!

Roughly 20kms, Manly to Spit back to Manly, meant an opportunity to walk a longer distance. The walk offered many moments to take in the natural surroundings and wildlife even though a good, fast pace was kept by everyone.

Sunday 30th October - Manly to Spit to Manly

CONFIRMING 6.30am sharp Sunday 30th October - Manly to Spit to Manly 20kms (approx 3hrs)

Meeting Point
See you at 6.30am out the front of the Manly Aquarium, Manly Wharf

Weather
The prediction is partly cloudy with isolated showers.

Other Info.
If you don't have the time to do the full loop walk you are welcome to join us for just the Manly to Spit leg. There are buses that can be caught near Spit Bridge to take you back to Manly (it takes about 10-15 minutes at the most), otherwise, we are walking back to Manly. This walk will be a good one for those who want to test out using walking poles - some women found them to be useful on the Hike last year for going up & down the mountain - Trudie will have two that can be borrowed on Sunday.

Please call Liesel 0404 884 856 or Trudie 0417 676 725 if you require more information regarding the training walks.

Parking Options
- All the residential areas are 2 hours free from 8am (so will have till 10am)
- Anywhere on the left side of Sydney Rd as you descend down the hill into Manly (the big main road as you drive into Manly) is FREE weekends, so that's a good option and not far to walk to the Aquarium.
- Streets to park near the Aquarium include:
The Cresent, James St, George St, Upper Gilbert St, Eustace St
- Along West Esplanade - which is the road nearest the water as you drive towards the Aquarium from the Wharf - are some spots for 2 hrs free from 8.30am (some are only one hr though)
- There is a little car park above the Aquarium area, outside the entrance to Manly Pavilion Restaurant.

4 weeks till Humpty's Hike!

Roseville to Lindfield was the designated walk on Saturday morning through the bush. Surrounded by nature some of the girls witnessed a crow attacking a gorgeous Twany Frogmouth Owl & it's nest sending eggs crashing to the ground. Lucky the Owl had bodyguards.....the Cockatoos came to its rescue and scared off the Crow.

5 weeks till Humpty's Hike!

WOW! Perfect weather, breathtaking views of Sydney & the Harbour and an enthusiastic bunch of women along with the token male made the walk on the weekend spectacular. It was lovely to see some new faces. Ladies, do remember that the training walks are for everyone, including family, friends, husbands & partners as it is good fun and a great way for them to support you. The walk started at Luna Park, Milson's Point and the group made their way around to Waverton. Being Sunday & early, there was plenty of free parking almost straight out front & the walk provided us with a good amount of stairs to test our fitness levels. The only complaint was there were no coffee stops - there won't be any on the mountain either girls! The various paths in Balls Head Reserve had us bush bashing through the scrub at one point but we all managed to come out the other side.
