Saturday 17th November - Milson's Point to Taronga Zoo

Ladies, this will be the last group training walk before we venture south to climb Cradle Mountain. Hopefully, all who have come along to the previous training walks have enjoyed themselves. For those of you who have been training solo, this may be a nice opportunity to come along and meet some of the other women who you will be away with on the weekend of the Hike.

CONFIRMING 6.30am sharp Saturday 17th November - Milson's Point to Taronga Zoo approx. 20kms. The plan is to reach Taronga Zoo but this will depend on time.

Meeting Point
See you at 6.30am at the Entrance to Luna Park (in front of the smiling face), Milson's Point / Kirribilli

Weather
The prediction is partly cloudy with isolated showers, max 18.

Other Info.
This will be a loop walk meaning we will return back to Luna Park. The walk is mostly along footpaths sometimes beside roads and other times through parkland. There are plenty of places to stop and enjoy the majestic views of Sydney Harbour.

Parking Options
- There is plenty of parking in Alfred St, South that allows 2hrs free from 8am, meaning we will have from 6.30 till 10am - we want to be back by then.
- All day metered parking is as cheap as $10 for the day.
- There are many side streets (especially on the Killibilli side of the bridge, with just a short walk over to Luna Park) in which you can park all day for free on the weekends, do check the parking signs though for any time restrictions.

TREKBEYOND

3 weeks till Humpty's Hike!

The lovely walk on Sunday went from Manly to Spit back to Manly and there were lots of rock stairs to go up & down - the hiking sticks got used! This enabled the girls to experience a little what walking Cradle Mountain will be like. We do live in one of the best cities in the world as in the beginning the weather looked dubious, with rain clouds hanging overhead, but they cleared leaving just blue sky and crystal clear blue water.

NEAR YOU: Tackling Craddle Mountain time to help less fortunate children

Vanessa Porter, Liesel Edis, Trudie Hurt and Tiffany Jones will climb Cradle Mountain next month for the Humpty Dumpty Foundation.
Vanessa Porter, Liesel Edis, Trudie Hurt and Tiffany Jones will climb Cradle Mountain next month for the Humpty Dumpty Foundation.

FIVE peninsula women are tackling Cradle Mountain to raise funds for the Humpty Dumpty Foundation.
Trudie Hurt, Liesel Edis, Michelle Tea, Rebecca Edwards and Elizabeth Rady will join a group of up to 90 women from across Australia for Humpty's Hike.
The trek, from November 22 to 25, will take them through 15km of picturesque natural surroundings on the way to the summit of the mountain in northwest Tasmania.
Mrs Hurt, who helped to instigate Humpty's Hike events three years ago, said she was driven to help families less fortunate than her own. "We have healthy children but we know of people and we've heard many stories of people who have not been as fortunate," she said.
"We wanted to be able to provide that support to other people in those circumstances."
The Humpty Dumpty Foundation raises funds for medical equipment to help sick children in hospitals around Australia.
This is the third Humpty's Hike, following treks up Mount Kosciuszko in 2010 and 2011.
Mrs Hurt said the group was looking and training for a "new challenge" and decided to tackle Cradle Mountain.
