7 weeks till Humpty's Hike!

It was a wet walk on Sunday but that didn't deter the keen who showed up to do a loop walk along the headland from Balmoral to Clifton Gardens & beyond. Regardless of the drizzle everyone enjoyed getting out & about but I am sure they enjoyed going home to hot showers & dry clothes even more.

8 weeks till Humpty's Hike!

What amazing weather to start the training walk sessions in. There was not a cloud to be seen and lots of crystal blue water everywhere, the views were spectacular. The girls had a spring their step - it matched the Spring feeling in the air. There was five of us in total this week but of course one had to record the magic of the day......

Fundraising - 'Oh What A Night'.......

A fabulous night was had by all during an Auction held at Dunes, Palm Beach on Saturday 17 Sept. Those who gathered to support some of the Northern Beaches women (Claire Delaney, Nuala Stewart, Liesel Edis & Trudie Hurt) who are participating in Humpty's Hike for 2011, were treated to a selection of fine food & drinks in an elegant setting.

The Auction was a huge success and wouldn't have been without the support & generosity of the people who attended & some wonderful businesses, resorts & local artists who kindly donated many beautiful prizes. We were fortunate enough to raise nearly $14,000. A special thank you to Cathy from Dunes Restaurant, Kirrily Waldhorn from Beer Diva as MC & Rebecca Svenoy as the Auctioneer. Both Kirrily & Rebecca did an outstanding job of making the evening lots of fun.

If anyone is doing or has done any fundraising ideas & photos that they want to share for Humpty's Hike, please email me t@trudie.com.au & I can post them on the  Blog.

Meeting Point
See you at 6.30am out the front of the Manly Aquarium, Manly Wharf

Weather
The prediction is sunny getting up to 26 degrees max.

Getting back
Someone asked about walking back. It's not in the plan, but you might be able to get someone interested!  Otherwise, there's are buses that can be caught near Spit Bridge to take you back to Manly (it takes about 10-15 minutes at the most). You also might consider car pooling and if you can get up early enough, leave a car at The Spit.

Parking Options
- All the residential areas are 2 hours free from 8am (so will have till 10am)
- Anywhere on the left side of Sydney Rd as you descend down the hill into Manly (the big main road as you drive into Manly) is FREE weekends, so that's a good option and not far to walk to the Aquarium.
- Streets to park near the Aquarium include:
The Cresent, James St, George St, Upper Gilbert St, Eustace St
- Along West Esplanade - which is the road nearest the water as you drive towards the Aquarium from the Wharf - are some spots for 2 hrs free from 8.30am (some are only one hr though)
- There is a little car park above the Aquarium area, outside the entrance to Manly Pavilion Restaurant.
